DEFINITION
The Islamic Committee for the
International Crescent is a specialized institution of the Organization
of the Islamic Conference. It helps to alleviate the sufferings caused
by natural disaster and war.
ESTABLISHMENT
The Eighth Islamic Conference of
Foreign Ministers, held in May 1977, at Tripoli (Libya), approved the
principle of creation of this institution.
OBJECTIVES
This organ is designed:
- To provide medical assistance and to alleviate the sufferings caused by natural catastrophes and man-made disasters.
- To offer all necessary assistance within its possibilities, to international and local organizations, serving humanity.
