A high-level delegation from the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) led by Ambassador Sayyed Qasem Al-Masri, Advisor to OIC Secretary General on Muslim Minorities has left for the Chinese capital at the weekend.
OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu will later be visiting Beijing upon an invitation from the Chinese government to follow up on the conditions of the Muslims in Uighur region.
China accepted to kill only 12 Uighurs in a police crackdown that left 197 people dead.
Han Chinese attack on Uighur workers in a factory, that cost lives of two people and injured 118, sparked massive protests in East Turkistan that China changed its name to "Xinjiang" in 1955, calling it "Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region."
The delegation is expected to make field visits to Uighur region and other regions to take stock of the conditions of Muslims in general.
OIC ministerial meeting in Damascus has called for continued contacts with the Chinese government on July 25th in order to guarantee the legitimate rights' the Muslim Uighurs.
